Most Daring E-Book Covers

SYNOPSIS LOUNGE will skip its regular features and will deal on daring e-book covers.
Personal Notes:  Well, at first before I launched my novella, Asian Boy I got some mixed reactions about my e-book cover after posting it on my blog and on Facebook. But long before I did it, I got a reaction from my chief editor. Since we were using the NOOK Press platform, we collaborated ever since. So he could have direct access to our publishing activities. He commented about Miggy's daring pose on the e-book cover. I told my editor that we're delving to the New Adult category and not worried about having so much issues on the e-book cover the way it was presented.

The truth is I was really bothered by that. My graphic designer followed the guidelines I set for that project.  A few hours after posting the e-book cover of Asian Boy on my blog and Facebook, my male friend sent me a text cautioning me about the possible dilemma I would face if I would let the e-book cover be the final one. He was 'bothered' by Miggy wearing boxers and topless.

That same day, I showed the proposed e-book cover to another male friend and I was devastated the way he reacted when he saw it. He told right in front of me that only a few people would read my e-book. I told him I appreciated his views but justified that there should be a reason why I chose that concept. It's pretty much related to the story, especially on the very first chapter, when Miggy tried to hit Colton, his girlfriend's ex, with a baseball bat.

Then I began to ask a lot of my Facebook friends and told them to give me their honest opinion on the e-book cover. I asked them if such cover had bothered them the first time they saw it. Surprisingly, 99% of my Facebook friends said they approved it. Some of them reasoned out they were not bothered since we're in a modern world and such e-book cover was suited for the trend. My Facebook friends who responded were in their mid twenties and late thirties.

Then to satisfy my intention to get an honest assessment, navigating the world of e-book on the New Adult category was my last option. And I found out that Asian Boy e-book cover was wayyyy behind the trend or in a category of being so daring. And when I went deeper to my simple research, here's what I found, though   most of these covers are 'samples', but here they are:
Mild huh?
This is just mild.
This is one of a kind.
And this one... What the?
My favorite one...
Very provocative one.
My friend would freak out if he would see this one.

Our very own... Asian Boy.
This is something. Hmm.

It's My Book Again!

Prince of Nepal was released a few weeks before Asian Boy

Now available on Amazon Kindle and Smashwords for $0.99 cents

PERSONAL NOTES:

I probably would say I treated myself on this special day, Father's Day when Asian Boy has just released on Amazon Kindle and soon to be on Barnes and Noble NOOK, Smashwords and Kobo. It was just after a few weeks after the release of Prince of Nepal.

Asian Boy falls for the NEW ADULT category as our protagonist, Miggy de Asis, who grew up in rural Oklahoma had to deal with these three women who want to be with him forever. First, this young but tricky widow who believes her destiny is written to be Miggy as her next husband. Oh, it sounds ridiculous when she said her husband died for a reason when Miggy was 16. And the next one who has a feisty, short tempered behavior, a fashionista, has a different agenda for our Asian Boy. Then, the girl next door who shared her expertise how a torrid kissing actually works (I almost forgot that field, he he, never been there, though) as she gave Miggy a start up lesson in an old cemetery (sounds creepy, huh? But this novella has nothing to do with horror scenes).

So both my novels are available on line now. And soon, the hard copies!

Lena Simone Maddox's life has been turned upside down. Trying to make it as an actress in LA while retaining her dignity has always been tough, but now? Her ex has leaked pictures. The kinds of pictures you don't want anyone to see. The kinds of pictures Lena didn't even know existed.

The owner of Volare LA and overall player is the guy who gets the paparazzi off her back. He's the gorgeous Dom who can actually make her feel sexual, even after all that's happened. And he's the one man who might be able to earn Lena's trust.

Lena begs him to train her as a submissive, hoping to reclaim that part of her identity after her ex has taken everything else. But Chance has demons of his own. Things that happened years ago, things that he won't talk about.

When Lena finds herself falling for the fiery Dom, she freaks. Can she trust this man with her heart?

Here's another one from same author, Chloe Cox!

Marrying the Master
by Chloe Cox

MARRYING THE MASTER is an emotional, erotic romance about getting the one you've always wanted. It contains mature themes and content perfect for fans of the Crossfire series and Fifty Shades of Grey, and at least one thing you should *not* at home...

A man she's loved for years.

A marriage of necessity.

An impossible situation.

Lola Theroux wanted Roman Casta the moment she saw him. She knows she isn't special in that regard--every woman wants Roman Casta the moment she sees him. But Lola is the only one who knows why Roman doesn't do relationships, and she knows that he'll never see her as anything other than his best friend's little cousin--he'll always be her protector, never her lover. Even after five years of working together running New York's exclusive Club Volare, she's never caught his eye, and never had a chance to show him her submissive side.

Until a campaigning politician targets Club Volare, and the only way to save the club is to get married--to Roman.

Now they'll have to fool the public, the press, and their friends into thinking they're in love and in lust. For Lola, that isn't the hard part. The hard part is pretending to be Roman's sub without falling for a man she knows she can't have.

Until one night changes everything...

MARRYING THE MASTER is fourth in the Club Volare series, though it can be read as a standalone. It's approximately 70,000 words long.

He's handsome, successful, and turns her inside out with a kiss to end all kisses, the kind that makes you feel like a shooting star. Hot Novels to Heat Up the Summer!

SYNOPSIS LOUNGE presents....

Fool Me Once
By Mona Ingram

What do you get when you combine a feisty female journalist and a former Special Forces operative? Here's a sample:

He circled her with a predatory gleam in his eyes. "You look good enough to eat," he murmured softly.
His voice reached out and drew her in. It was sippin' whiskey, it was black velvet, it was hard steel - and God help her - it was hot sex, waiting to happen. She met his eyes as he came to a stop in front of her.
A pulse throbbed in her throat and he smiled, tracing it with his fingertips as his eyes held hers. Lowering his head, his lips brushed her skin where his fingers had been, then trailed lower, lingering in the hollow of her neck. "Olivia", he whispered, raising his head. "I don't know what I'm going to do about you." His lips seemed to suggest a world of possibilities.

And here's another one...

The Unwanted Wife
By Natasha Anders
All Alessandro de Lucci wants from his wife is a son but after a year and a half of unhappiness and disillusionment, all Theresa de Lucci wants from her ice cold husband is a divorce. Unfortunate timing, since Theresa is about to discover that she’s finally pregnant and Alessandro is about to discover that he isn’t willing to lose Theresa.

PERSONAL NOTES:  My second novella Asian Boy is on the final phase now. Miguelito, our protagonist will hit the road on Amazon Kindle and B&N Nook and Smashwords. Tomorrow, I will let my Facebook friends 'like' the sample e-book covers, to choose what they really like to be the final one.
But for the time being, here's Miggy...

I will visit The River Walk in San Antonio in the coming weeks for a short vacation, may be. Such a wonderful place is one of the settings I made for my Prince of Nepal novella. If you will read it you'll find one of the most exciting chapters of Rajendra's journey to America.

After the release of Asian Boy, a couple of short stories are in the horizon; Secrets of the Bayous and Ravens of Deep Ellum.

From Aspiring Author to Published

PERSONAL NOTES: I wrote this folks trying to reminisce the moments before I finally uploaded my first novel. From being aspiring to a published author, I looked back the days when I began writing Prince of Nepal. It took for almost a year. I began writing the first draft in September last year. (Bear with me folks, the word "I" was used a dozen times on this PERSONAL NOTES. It's too personal, that's why :-)).

It was a typical Wednesday afternoon in Dallas, Texas when I met my formatting consultant. We planned to do the uploading of my first novella Prince of Nepal in one of the Starbucks outlets nearby but ended up doing it in her house. That's the beauty of the digital world, you're not supposed to do it in one particular place.

We had to double check everything first. To me it was really an exciting moment. Though I was really impatient to wait for another hour, I had no options but  to deal with my emotions. My formatting consultant was so accommodating. She showed her compassion while checking every single aspect of our self-publishing venture.

We ran out of time. A couple of hours had past and I had to leave the place. I was so upset learning the lessons to avoid for the uploading/launching of another one next week, the Asian Boy and of course for the upcoming novellas and short stories in the near future. My consultant had to go to a chess class in Irving. She promised me she would verify everything that night before the upload.

On my way back home, traffic was building up along US Highway 75 heading north. It added to my agony, hoping everything would be running smoothly. And I was wrong. There's a lot of things to catch up. Lots of lessons learned.

I spent the whole night worrying too much about the outcome. It took the following day before we finally uploaded Prince of Nepal on Amazon Kindle, Barnes and Noble NOOK and Smashwords. I had to wait for hours in full excitement. When I checked my email, I saw Amazon sent a warm message of congratulating me that my novel was on sale now. Then Smashwords, then the Barnes and Noble had sent the same information. I sent a personal message to my formatting consultant thanking her for such a wonderful effort.

After confirming that my humble work was on these major e-book sellers, I closed my eyes and said a little prayer and thanked the Big Boss for the opportunity. And thanked America for the opportunity.

I knew from the very start that the journey had just begun. The ride could be bumpy ahead of me and expected to face great challenges along the way. I began collaborating with my fellow writers, aspiring and published authors in the social media long time before my first novella was launched. I learned a lot from them. Hugh Howey, Patrice Fitzgerald, John Ward and a lot more were among those people I admired most. I haven't read their work yet but idolized them for sharing their experience and thoughts of being Indie writers. As of writing this blog, yours truly is an active member to more than a dozen writing communities on Google+, and lucky enough to have thousands of people that can rely on to give my readers superb entertainment. My work is not perfect, but time, energy and passion were devoted writing it.

Hugh Howey was right when he advised his fellow Indie authors that self-publishing is a marathon. Yes, indeed. And joining a marathon is not associated with recklessness and short cuts
to attain our goals. Our endeavor is associated with compassion. A compassion that will benefit the important creatures living on earth, our valued readers.

I know, it's a long way to go.
